Merry Christmas, you guys! ❤ So very blessed for each and every one of you. As many of you know, Austin surprised me with a trip to New York City for our anniversary, which lucky for us, falls 3 days before Christmas. We were so excited to experience New York during Christmas time and we had so much fun planning out what we were going to do the days we were visiting. The trip was so perfect. I never imagined this time last year we’d be living in our own home celebrating Christmas together! No long distance or anything anymore. Here are our picks for things to do during peak holiday season in New York City, especially for your anniversary.
Central Park was an absolute dream during this time of the year. I would definitely recommend this being on your list of things to do for an intimate time. There is so much to see just within the park and it’s a perfect route to take to make it to the Museum! Central Park is a great, free way to explore the city!
Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This was my first time actually going inside the MET (last year I just hung out on the steps because Gossip Girl). This time we went in and I loved all the art. I didn’t take many pictures, because it didn’t feel like I should, but we did get beautiful ones outside and I got a few of these gorgeous exhibits in the Egyptian wing. There were so many sections to go through. American, Asian, Native American, Egyptian, Medieval, etc. You name it, it’s there. We paid $25 each and the pass was good for 3 whole days!
Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.
This was by far the best show we could’ve seen on Broadway. It was also our first ever Broadway show! It was absolutely incredible. We sat all the way at the top, which at first I wasn’t sure about, but it turns out the view is awesome, especially at Majestic Theater. There were full bars on each floor and we got the cutest cups for our drinks (which was discounted for refills!!!). Our tickets were about $80 online. It was a quick walk down 8th avenue, which wasn’t bad, because we got to see all the things around Times Square! It’s the longest running show in Broadway history. It’s a must see!
Have Lunch in Brooklyn.
We took the subway to Brooklyn and had lunch overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge! It was beyond beautiful. The bar was called SUGARCANE Raw Bar Grill. They had the cutest little vibe, and their happy hour was from 4-7 p.m., and let me tell you, the prices were awesome. $4 edamame, $5 Brooklyn beers, $7 cocktails, and $7 sushi rolls. We went all out for the absolute LOW. They’re located at 55 Water St. in Brooklyn, NY.!!
Tour Times Square.
Times Square is so fun and one of those places you can’t leave NYC without seeing. I do however, only like to spend a few hours there haha. There’s just so many people! We found the cutest bars while being in and around Times Square all weekend though. That is definitely a good part about it being so popular. One was called Rumours (933 8th Ave) and the other was New York Beer Company (321 W 44th St). Two solid sports bars with an awesome vibe. Prices were good for being so deep in NYC, too! We went shopping and got outfits for NYE (which we sadly will not be in New York for), but maybe we can ring in the new year next year. We didn’t have time to ice skate at the Rockefeller Center, but goodness gracious, it was magical to see in person. A dream come true!
NYC was a dream. I’m so blessed to have a fiance that loves living an epic life with me! Make sure you check out these fun spots while in NYC and if you have any favs, let me know in the comment section! I’d love to check them out next time we go.
